When it comes to your wedding day, timing is everything. A well-planned timeline is essential for creating a smooth, memorable celebration. After all, your timeline is what ultimately controls your photos, it shapes the flow of the day and determines how much space there is for meaningful moments to unfold.

As wedding photographers at R.E.M. Video and Photography, our role goes beyond capturing beautiful images. We help create a thoughtful rhythm for your day, ensuring everything flows naturally and without unnecessary stress. We understand that a wedding is a major milestone, and our goal is to help every moment feel calm, intentional, and authentic.

The Detail Shots / 30 minutes

The detail shots may seem small, but they play a crucial role in storytelling. We recommend allotting at least 30 minutes for your photographer to capture these exquisite elements. This dedicated time will ensure that we beautifully document all the special touches, from the elegant dress and tuxedo to the stunning jewelry, as well as the vibrant bouquets and, of course, the rings that symbolize your love.

Getting Ready / 60 minutes

The moments leading up to the ceremony are truly special, as the bride and her bridesmaids prepare with hair and makeup, while the groom and his groomsmen get suited up. To ensure we capture every candid moment during this time, we recommend allowing at least 60 minutes for these preparations. For a more comprehensive capture of your special day, consider enlisting a second photographer to chronicle the groom's preparations. This approach allows for a balanced portrayal of both the bride and groom's anticipation leading up to the big day.

Individual Portraits / 30 minutes

The bride's makeup and the groom's hair look their absolute best right after their preparations. Capturing these precious moments through individual portraits is essential for preserving the beauty and emotion of the day.

The Immediate Family Photos / 30 minutes

Your wedding day is a special celebration, and while your family plays an essential role in it, you won't need an extensive amount of time for formal photographs with them. This dedicated session focuses on capturing beautiful moments with your immediate family—siblings, parents, and grandparents. The rest of the family can join in during the Family Formal Session, ensuring everyone is included in your cherished memories.

The First Look (Optional) / 30-40 minutes

One of the most magical moments of a wedding day is the first time the bride and groom lay eyes on each other! While this initial "first look" typically lasts around 10 minutes, we highly recommend setting aside a bit more time. This allows you and your partner to fully savor this intimate moment, unwind together, and even enjoy a brief couple's session before joining your wedding party. Such preparation can enhance the overall experience, creating beautiful memories that you will cherish for a lifetime.

The Bridal Party Session / 30-40 minutes

Group photos are most successful when everyone is fresh and engaged. To ensure a seamless experience, having a clear list of group arrangements is essential. Allocating 30-40 minutes enables us to capture not only the traditional and formal portraits but also those spontaneous and memorable moments that truly define the event.

The Ceremony Venue and Details / 30 minutes

The true essence of your ceremony venue shines most radiantly in those quiet moments just before your guests arrive. At R.E.M. Video and Photography, our mission is to capture every intricate detail, from exquisite floral arrangements to thoughtfully curated decorations, ensuring that the beauty of your special day is preserved forever.

Ceremony Coverage

Ceremony coverage time varies depending on the specific traditions and elements of each event. At R.E.M. Video and Photography, we are dedicated to capturing the key moments of your ceremony with precision and artistry. Our commitment ensures that every important detail is preserved, allowing you to relive those unforgettable memories for years to come.

The Formal Family Session / 30 minutes

Now it’s time for your extended family and friends to join in the formal wedding photos. To keep this part of the day smooth and enjoyable, especially when many guests are involved, we recommend designating one or two family members to help gather and coordinate everyone. This helps the session move efficiently and allows us to focus on capturing beautiful memories with the people who matter most.

If you’re planning more than 10 group combinations, it’s helpful to account for approximately 3–5 minutes per group when building your timeline. Planning ahead ensures that the session flows effortlessly while still allowing us to document each moment with care.

The Couple's Session / 30-60 minutes

Your special day is a celebration of love, and at R.E.M. Video and Photography, we believe it’s essential to beautifully capture every precious moment shared between you and your partner. We recommend scheduling your couples' session during the cocktail hour, as the sun sets, creating a breathtaking backdrop filled with scenic views and vibrant skies. This timing can enhance the quality of your photos, adding a romantic and dreamy touch to your memories. However, we understand every couple has their own preferences, and we are flexible to discuss alternative timings that suit your vision.

The Reception Venue and Details / 30 minutes

In much the same way that we focus on capturing the elegance of the ceremony venue, we also cherish the moments leading up to your reception. This brief window allows us to expertly showcase your venue and its exquisite details at their finest.

The Reception First Look / 10 minutes

At this moment, you and your spouse will experience the beauty of the reception space and its decorations for the very first time. This is not only an exciting opportunity for you to explore your reception site together but also the perfect chance to practice your choreographed first dance. Allow us to capture these special moments that you'll cherish forever.

Cocktail Hour

Cocktail hour candid coverage is expertly handled by our second photographer, allowing the lead photographer to focus entirely on capturing the stunning portraits of the bride and groom, as well as the intricate details of the reception.

Reception and Candid Moments

The reception timing of our coverage is tailored to fit the program you have envisioned. At R.E.M. Video and Photography, we capture every candid moment of your celebration. From breathtaking grand entrances to unforgettable first dances, each moment at your reception unfolds a unique story. This setting is the perfect canvas for heartfelt speeches and spontaneous laughter, seamlessly weaving together the narrative of your special day.

The Sneak Away / 20 minutes

To truly capture the magic of your special day, we recommend taking a moment to step away for a Sneak Away session during your reception. A dedicated 20-minute window, ideally right after dinner and just before the dancing begins, is the perfect opportunity for stunning romantic night photography and videography. This brief pause allows you to connect and enjoy each other’s company while we create beautiful, lasting memories.

The Dancing / 30-60 minutes

It’s time to celebrate and dance! Bringing family and friends together on the dance floor is one of the most joyful moments of the entire day. While the dancing may last longer, we typically need just 30–60 minutes to capture it. At R.E.M. Video and Photography, we focus on preserving the true spirit of your celebration, documenting the laughter, energy, and unforgettable moments so they can be relived through our photos.
