If there is one word that we can use to describe South Asian weddings, it would be colorful. Wedding celebrations are very over-the-top for all South Asian cultures and religions. From the decorations to the ceremony rituals to the costumes of the bride and groom, South Asian weddings are sure to impress every guest that attends. This is because the wedding is one of the most important and extensive personal sacraments in South Asian nationalities and families attach a great deal of importance to marriage. Most families put in many hours of effort and financial resources to make the celebration of the bride and groom’s wedding come to life. Weddings in South Asian cultures and religions vary depending on the desires and the religious values of the bride and groom. South Asian weddings usually last four days due to the immense amount of traditions and rituals that the bridal party needs to complete for the bride and groom’s bonding to be religiously permitted. It would be an understatement if we said that South Asian weddings are just like other weddings. The combination of extensive rituals, glamorous decor and authentic entertainment all create the spectacular celebration that is a South Asian Wedding.

And on top of that, it makes our job as the photographer and videographer a whole lot easier. The photos and footage from these types of weddings always turn out amazing because there are so many details and colors that bring life to the photographs and films. It is really rare to have any boring or bland looking shots in a South Asian wedding portfolio. However, days of ongoing traditions and long rituals tend to be tough on any photographer and/or videographer. South Asian weddings associate themselves with long hours and demand a lot of focus. But they are worth it. From capturing the traditions of the wedding to witnessing all of the wonderful family dynamics to seeing all of the entertaining games, it really is a pleasure filming and photographing the memories from these weddings.

This is a part of a series of blogs so please check out the next installments and learn more about South Asian Weddings!
