The Sangeet Ceremony, or “music night” in translation, is a night adorned with music and dance dedicated to the families and friends of the bride and groom. The Sangeet usually occurs one evening a few days before the wedding day and provides a night of relaxation from all of the more serious rituals and wedding preparations. Women of the families come together to sing traditional wedding songs to the bride and groom. Some of the songs are about the daily life of a married woman while others are about the hardships that come with being a wife and eventually a mother. The Sangeet consists of a lot of dancing as well. There are a lot of ritual dance numbers that family members learn which are then performed to the bride and groom. These family members and the bridal party then go on to dance the night away in celebration and fun. Not only is the Sangeet a special bonding time for the bride and groom, but also for the two families as well. This ritual signifies the union and bondage of the two souls and families all while being in an amusing environment.

The Sangeet ceremony provides plenty of opportunities for the photographer to capture spectacular moments. With all the dancing, music and entertainment going on throughout the evening, photographs are sure to bring out the happy and joyful emotions of the ceremony. The Sangeet also gives photographers the chance to take formal portraits as well. Relatives are more than willing to come together to take family portraits which become memorable keepsakes for the families of the bride and groom. Photographs always turn out wonderful from the Sangeet. We get to see family members on both sides enjoying each others company and having a great time with one another which translates into the camera marvelously.
